The successful candidates will join us on a full time, 1 year fixed term contract and will receive a competitive rate of 142 per week plus an excellent benefits package. About the Apprentice Activity Instructor role This is an exciting opportunity to join the established Scout Adventures apprenticeship programme - providing a wide range of experience and training in delivering adventurous activities to young people, and in an array of centre operations. Now in the 5th year of our apprenticeship programme our previous apprentices have gone on to work in colleges, work as free-lance coaches, and work as fully fledged instructors in both our centres and the wider outdoor industry. Based primarily at one of our centres but with opportunities to visit all of our locations you will undertake a blended programme of on the job work experience and training, NGB awards, and college assignments. The programme has two core objectives; to develop you as a skilled outdoor practitioner, and to assist each centre in providing high quality residentials and adventurous experiences to young people. Please note we do NOT make deductions from pay for accommodation, uniform or board. What we're looking for in our Apprentice Activity Instructor Like us you will be passionate about working with young people, and the opportunities that adventure can provide. As an active participant in outdoor adventure activities, you will have the motivation and aptitude to work towards achieving qualifications in paddle sports, target sports, climbing and high ropes, as well as an NVQ Level 2 in Activity Leadership within one year. You will ideally already have some experience of working in an outdoor or activity centre, and understand the challenges of working in a busy residential centre - particularly during peak season. Your personal strengths include: a positive outlook; flexibility; willingness to work independently; being helpful and cooperative with others; enjoying meeting new people and a commitment to self-development. To be eligible for this role and meet the funding requirements you must meet the following criteria: - Minimum age 18 years on start date - You must reside at an English address - You must not have previously obtained a L4 qualification (e.g. Degree or HND) What we can offer you as our Apprentice Activity Instructor: - Pension Scheme - Simply Health medical plan - Accommodation - Uniform and Board included About Us Scout Adventures is all about the big moments. Whether it's leaping off a jetty into a lake at the end of a day's canoeing, chatting about the day's activities in a bunk bed after lights out, or roasting marshmallows over glowing embers, these are memories being made. But something else is happening too. Young people are learning the character skills they need to succeed: leadership, teamwork, resilience and initiative. To them it feels like fun, but these are the experiences that help them grow as people.
