CHALET COOK JOB DESCRIPTION

The role of the chalet cook is to organise the smooth running of your chalets kitchen. You will work along side a chalet host who is mainly responsible for housekeeping and hosting duties. However, your jobs will overlap and we would expect you to assist each other in your work so that you run your chalet to the very best of your ability. As a team, the chalet cook and host would ensure that your guests are comfortable and enjoying a high standard of personal service.

As a guideline your role will include:

  1. Menu planning, shopping, food ordering and stock control.

  2. Ensuring the kitchen is kept clean at all times, paying special attention to kitchen/

    food hygiene.

  3. Meals that are provided by the chalet cook are as follows-

    • Breakfast - a choice of continental breakfast.

    • Afternoon Tea - Lay out homemade cake & biscuits, and a selection of tea,

      coffee and fruit juice.

    • Children’s High Tea – served at 6.00pm when required.

    • Dinner- a three course ‘dinner party’ style menu, with the emphasis on

      fresh and varied ingredients. Coffee and mints to follow. Guests may

      downgrade to a two course option.

    • Special dietary requirements e.g. vegetarians may need to be catered for.

  4. Food presentation - ensuring that the food produced is of a consistently high standard and thoughtfully presented.

  5. Excellent time keeping and organisation are required, to ensure that all meals are served on time.

  6. Budget control, submitting weekly chalet accounts to the chalet manager.

  7. Hosting the guests when appropriate. Serving at meals. Meeting your guests on

    arrival, farewells to departing guests.

  8. Helping the chalet host with the cleaning of bedrooms, bathroom and general areas

    when required.

  9. Liaising with resort maintenance team over any damage/breakages in the kitchen.

10.Liaising with the chalet manager if any problems occur with guests or other staff.

The chalet cook is ultimately responsible for all activities within their specific chalet.
