Our luxury lodge based in Northern Norway has, in an eight-year period, earned a world-wide reputation for outstanding quality and has been listed in the world’s top 10 luxury adventure hotel lodges. The lodge utilizes the nature and unique environment to provide a once in a life-time experience for visiting guests. Northern Lights, dog sledding and sea safari during early winter leads to specialized skiing weeks during winter and spring. Summer provides guests with midnight sun, wild canyon rivers, mountain and glacier walking. The lodge caters for 16 guests and provides full board catering to the highest of standards.
We are seeking 2 energetic, enthusiastic hosts to take the position of housekeeping and host to the guests. Between the 2 of you, you will ensure the lodge is clean at all times and the guests feel well looked after. You will work alongside a chef and a lodge manager. The lodge owners are also on hand all year round.
Note: This is for their northern lights season November to March and the ski season March to end of May. It is dark in the Arctic from November until end of Jan – so no sun at all! Applicants therefore need to know it is a tough lifestyle up there in those dark months.
This host team of 2 members’ entails working one of two flexible shifts changing on alternative days between morning and evening shifts. The lodge hosts 16 guests in 8 bedrooms from 3 to 6 night stays. Your tasks will involve the following, depending on which shift you are working.
Alternating Shifts between Morning and Evening (6 days morning then 6 days evening). All variations of working shifts and hosting will amount to 40 hours of work per week.
Morning hosting shift approx. 7am – 2pm - Preparing buffet breakfast for max 16 guests buffet style. Cooking eggs and bacon to personal order if requested. Preparing outdoor activity lunch on occasions (help from manager) Breakfast clean up and room tidy.
Evening shift between 3 or 4pm until 10 or 11pm: Serving afternoon tea hosting, guests will return from activity and have afternoon tea consisting of cakes and plated fruit options. Serve drinks, set evening table for 3 course meal, serve meal and wine presentation. Host dinner service, clean down.
There are House keeping tasks - Breakfast shift cleans area. One day a week room turn over when full time house keeping has day off.
Occasional lodge lunches for none activity guests – service required (part of morning shift or evening which is dependent on timings)
Extra tasks depending on shift time and demand. Receive food deliveries by collecting at bottom of drive with car and storing into dry stores, freezers etc. This is done with the chef up to twice a week.
