Ski Beat are searching for fantastic and experience Chalet Host/Chefs - they must be experienced having done a previous season or be a qualified cook with a service background, to look after our lovely chalets this season. 

THE COMPANY

Ski Beat are a successful family friendly and caring tour operator with 29 years' experience and a reputation for excellent customer service. We specialise in catered chalet holidays to France including La Rosiere, La Plagne, Meribel Valley, Les Arcs, Val d'Isere, Val Thorens, Les Arcs and La Tania.

Our overseas team are responsible for looking after all aspects of our client's holiday, from beginning to end. It will be your job to ensure the needs of our Customers are always met and constantly exceeded, including the day to day running of our Chalets as its cook and host.     

Ski Beat was founded and is still run by people who came out to France to "do a season" and then never went back! Many of the staff on the Beat (and indeed many guests) return year after year thanks to our friendly ethos and excellent staff package. At the end of last season 98% of our staff surveyed said they would recommend us to a friend who wants to do a ski season.  We think this shows what kind of employer we are! 

THE ROLE

Customer Care

  • Care for guests each week with a warm and friendly manner, assisting with all their requirements and resolving any issues that may arise
  • Host a welcome meeting and drinks to inform guests about the chalet, local area, ski area and what to expect from their holiday
  • Assist with purchase of lift passes and arranging ski school or ski hire if necessary

Cooking

  • Prepare and serve breakfast six days a week as per Ski Beat menu plan
  • Cook a delicious and well-presented three course evening meal six days a week as per Ski Beat menu plan and dine with guests. Also cook an equally delicious high tea for children when required
  • Provide freshly baked cakes for afternoon tea seven days a week

Housekeeping

  • Keep all areas of the chalet clean at all times; including a daily clean of bedrooms, a weekly transfer day clean and regular in-depth cleaning
  • Keep access paths and steps to and from your chalet (and any other designated area) free of snow and ice at all times
  • Care and maintenance of chalet equipment, fixtures and fittings e.g. dishwasher, cooker, washing machine, freezer, light fittings

Stock Management & Administration

  • Efficient food ordering (using on-line form) and correct storage of all foodstuffs. Daily local shopping for bread and milk may be necessary.
  • Competent control of wine stocks including storing & serving wine at the correct temperature
  • Closely monitor your chalet expenditure with the aim of achieving your set budget.
  • Correctly manage linen stock ensuring it is always ready for collection on time
  • Complete weekly paperwork

  

ABOUT YOU

As part of our overseas team, you will need to be flexible, adaptable, self-motivated and use your own initiative. You should have excellent communication skills coupled with the capacity of working under pressure.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with the following skills

  • A passion for skiing or snowboarding
  • Experience in cooking having completed and/or worked in a kitchen, with an ability to demonstrate menu planning
  • Excellent, personable customer service
  • An eye for detail with good organisational skills
  • Relentless energy and a strong desire to succeed

It would be an advantage if you have previous experience within the hospitality industry and a cooking diploma or proven ability to cook meals for between 6 and 18 people. 

Important Note - An EU passport and a permanent UK National Insurance Number is essential and you must have worked in the UK for at least 3 months
