On the course we teach you everything there is to know about running a ski chalet successfully. We teach recipes that are quick and easy to cook for large numbers with ingredients that will be available to you in winter in the Alps, using methods of cooking specific to altitude (do you know how long it takes to cook an egg at altitude?), how to deal with dietary requirements you will come across ( gluten free, dairy free, etc.), how to work efficiently on your own and in a team, top tips on menu planning (you may have to present a weekly menu plan to your manager), shopping (you may have to do this on your own), managing your budget (you will be working on a very tight budget), portion control (how much do hungry skiers eat?), current food hygiene and safety regulations, tricks of the trade on how to maximise your ski time, what it's really like to be a chalet host, how to keep your guests happy and increase your tips, other jobs you may be expected to do, cv writing specific to a ski job and much more.
Every day you will prepare and cook breakfast, lunch, dinner and afternoon tea in a real chalet kitchen, just as you will when working a season. During the day there are theory sessions covering all the important things you need to know.
The price for this amazing course is £500 per person. This price includes 6 days teaching, training materials, including your very own ultimate chalet host cookery course bible to take home, all ingredients and equipment, help and advice on getting work in the Alps, all food (breakfast, lunch, dinner and afternoon tea cooked by the students), tea, coffee, water, wine, luxury accommodation for 7 nights based on 2 sharing, linen and towels and a set pick up and drop of to and from Geneva airport.
