Job Role Summary

Our Flotilla Engineers keep our fleet of yachts up and running. Not only will you be able to diagnose and repair any breakdowns, but also bring a sense of relief and calm to what can sometimes be stressful situations. Motivated by a challenge you will be ready to fix a problem whether it be at sea or in a remote location.

Never worked on a yacht? No problem, so long as you are confident with diesel engines and 12-volt electrics and have the desire to explore, and a passion for making people’s holidays that little bit better, then life as a Neilson Flotilla Engineer may just be for you!

  • Our Flotilla Engineers are professionals at keeping our yachts out on the water. Time is of the essence when working in any repairs. You will be efficient at managing your time and your tools to get the job done correctly
  • No problem is too big or too small – you will thrive in an environment that brings a sense of adventure and satisfaction from dealing with a variety of mechanical and electrical faults
  • As a Flotilla Engineer, you will need to think outside the box and use your initiative with a positive, personable approach to ensure that our guests receive the highest level of service

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

  • To be flexible with your working hours to ensure that the yacht fleet is fully functional whenever possible
  • To take personal responsibility for the maintenance, repair and security of Neilson yachts and equipment to ensure that they meet both brochure specifications and guest expectations
  • Working well as part of a team you'll pro-actively help Neilson guests using the yachts
  • To assist in the organization and hosting of social events, delivering briefings and to be always happy to interact with guests at all times
  • To assist in organising and hosting social events on most evenings, and generally interact with guests on a regular basis
  • To be prepared to move between different resorts according to operational needs of the business and to fulfil your contractual end date
  • To be flexible in your job role and willing to assist in all other duties as requested by your manager

Qualifications and Experience required

  • Engineering mechanical or electrical
  • NVQ level 3 motor vehicle or equivalent
  • First Aid certificate valid for the duration of the contract
  • Educated to GCSE standard
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required
  • Experience of working as part of a small team
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Presentation
  • Clean and tidy appearance

Personal Qualities

  • Approachable, welcoming, friendly, and enthusiastic
  • Able to communicate well with guests and staff of all ages
  • Self-motivated
  • Flexible
  • Punctual
  • Organised
