We are currently looking for a Maintenance Person/Chalet Assistant (Cook) - must be a qualified plumber, carpenter or someone with proven Maintenance Skills having worked in the trade, also you will need to have worked in a kitchen, done a cookery course or something similar.

Accountability: To: Resort Manager

Key responsibilities

  • To assist chalet hosts in the running of a chalet - so you must be able to cook
  • The day to day management of maintenance issues in resort
  • To comply with all procedures & standards as set out in the staff manuals
    To support and liaise regularly with your manager
  • In La Plagne, Meribel, Peisey, Val d'Isere and La Rosiere you will also be expected to be a Resort Driver in some of the above therefore will need to be over 23 years for insurance purposes. 
Your duties include
  • Assisting in chalets, hosting, serving and preparing meals and keeping the chalet clean at all times
  • Repair a diverse range of problems from broken beds, to common electrical problems, to blocked pipes etc.
  • Spotting potential problems before they arise
  • Maintain chalets and accommodation to a high standard, for example painting walls, tightening screws, re-sealing baths/showers etc.
  • Keep work sheets up-to-date
  • Liaise with Senior Maintenance Person and local French tradesmen where necessary, following up on repairs and parts
  • Deal with emergencies when they occur
  • Teamwork, participation in the collection and delivery of laundry and general supplies between chalets
  • Keeping access paths and steps to and from the chalets and any other communal steps free of snow and ice at all times, (this is hard physical outdoor work - requiring plenty of stamina)
  • When necessary running a chalet to cover illness, injury or staff shortages.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

You are definitely someone who enjoys variety and working with different people in a team.


You will need to have:

  • An EU passport and a permanent UK National Insurance Number
  • Your own tools and laptop would be helpful
  • Extensive maintenance and repairs experience
  • A friendly and helpful manner
  • Ability to manage your own time well and work on own initiative
  • Patience and a sense of humour
  • A neat and well groomed appearance at all times
  • First rate timekeeping
  • Flexibility
  • Enthusiasm and dedication

Experience

  • Substantial general household maintenance or experience in a maintenance role
  • Previous experience within the hospitality industry. i.e. food preparation experience

Preferable:

  • A working knowledge of French
  • Basic hygiene knowledge

Skills

  • Good all round maintenance skills
  • Proven organisational skills
  • Problem solving
