Villa Chef - Corfu

An experienced chef is required for an extremely high-end, gastronomically focused Estate in Corfu. The property is a traditional 18th century Venetian estate, incorporating a central manor house with a large olive press and private chapel. This is a growing business and they have no restrictions on their ambitions and there is potential for the right chef to become a permanent member of the team.

This position is suitable for a chef with plenty of experience in private households, who is friendly but creative, able to present beautiful and creative dishes using local and seasonal produce. There will be a cook with restaurant experience and a good local knowledge who will be there to assist daily. She has worked as a cook in a restaurant and can assist in food preparation, sourcing ingredients and cooking on your rest days.

Responsibilities
  • You will typically be looking after the eating requirements of 15-20 guests, with occasional larger events of around 50 people. For the larger events, we will hire in assistance as required.
  • There will be differing dietary requirements within the group, so you will cater for diverse requests including all intolerances and allergies
  • In addition to managing the kitchen, you will be acting as a host for the guests around meal times
  • You will be working alongside others, and you must be able to work well in a team with the other staff
  • Ensure the kitchen and work areas are organised, clean and meet health and hygiene standards
  • Be flexible in your role as a team to constantly develop and evolve the delivery of the dining experience
  • Ensure you are friendly, courteous and professional in dealing with guests
The ideal candidate
  • You must be able to drive
  • You must be capable of being creative with your menus and able to cater to different requirements
  • You will be cooking for guests with high expectations and your skills must be good, and you must have a lot of knowledge about food
  • The Villa has a large farm and produces its own high-grade olive oil; so, you must have an incredible passion for food and the ability to cook with the produce that is available on that day in a suitable way
  • It is important that you already have a good portfolio of food photos of your own cooking, as well as plenty of excellent references from private clients working in similar roles
Salary & Benefits
  • Salary of £500 per week
  • Free flights out and back
  • Use of car for provisioning and personal use – petrol paid
  • Accommodation and food throughout the stay
  • There will be some quiet periods between busy times depending on the villa bookings
