Company

Launched out of the simple understanding that friendly, high quality service aboard a yacht is key to any successful trip at sea. Quarterdeck offers a new, dynamic way of training maritime staff, one that is current and industry relevant.

With its modern day skippers and hostesses, Quarterdeck offers crew solutions for 1 to 1000+ charter weeks on behalf of the world’s largest and most exclusive companies.

Role

As the sole skipper provider for The Yacht Week, Quarterdeck provide all skipper assignments for the summer in Croatia, Greece, Montenegro and Italy. Sail with crews from across the world for up to 10 weeks a season and meet amazing new friends. Each week you will be responsible for all aspects of your crew experience, sailing from destination to destination to hosting them at the exclusive events. Expect to be assigned on yachts from 40-64 foot with up to 12 crew. Find out more at the Quarterdeck website.

Qualifications

Quarterdeck recommends the RYA or IYT Yachtmaster as it is the most globally recognised licence. Other licences may be accepted depending on experience. Checkout more on the Quarterdeck website.

Course

Skipper Academy focuses on what it takes to become a professional skipper and ready to skipper on The Yacht Week events. The practical part of the academy will focus on close quarter maneuvering in ports, yacht system troubleshooting, caught anchors, local weather, emergency situations all with crew management in mind. We will also teach you the flotilla operations logistics of rafting 50+ boats together and circle raft procedure from the first skippers to have ever done it.

The academy will also educate you about professional qualities of becoming a skipper, such as insurance, contracts, invoicing, leadership, crew management, roles and responsibilities and various other aspects that differentiate a sailor from a skipper.

How to apply
Create an account on the Quarterdeck website, fill out the application form and upload your licences. Select the course you wish to register for; we have a lot of applicants so spend some time making yourself stand out.
