OVERVIEW

This is a very demanding but extremely rewarding role providing support to the Head Chef and catering service in this luxury 5* lodge. There is a particularly strong emphasis in this role on providing creative and exciting breakfasts, children’s lunch and afternoon tea and assisting in fine dining.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Menu design and planning in agreement with Head Chef
  • Assist in the placing of food orders, large shop done weekly
  • Preparation and service of an exciting and creative (wow) breakfast menu with daily hot specials. Kids lunch, delicious biscuits and afternoon tea
  • Assist the Head chef with five course evening meal, pre-dinner canapés, after dinner petit fours and any other required tasks
  • Catering for all guests special dietary requirements or special occasions
  • Catering for children and nannies, showing insight and creativity (including early lunches and dinners when required)
  • Provide the highest level of food and presentation throughout all meals and service Inc Breakfast, children’s meals and dinner and ensure a prompt serving time
  • Food hygiene and general health and safety in the kitchen and dining areas
  • Keeping the kitchen clean, tidy and presentable
  • Assisting with the management of lodge food budgets
  • Assisting with the maintenance of all kitchen facilities and equipment 
  • Planning, preparation and timely service of staff lunch and dinner daily with health and hearty options

CANDIDATE PROFILE

We are looking for the following key personal qualities and attributes:

 

  • Positive and flexible attitude, able to be personable and chat face to face with guests when approached
  • Highly professional and discreet
  • Team player
  • Self-motivated
  • High food hygiene standards and have a smart appearance


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

This role would suit an individual with the following skill set:

 

  • Recognised catering qualification or extensive experience
  • Previous hospitality or customer service experience 5* hotel experience (preferred)
  • Good interpersonal skills and a willingness to help out in other departments
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Fluent English with conversational German (preferred)
  • Full, clean driving licence with experience driving in icy mountainous conditions (preferred)
