We are looking for a Sous Chef for a new restaurant venture on top of the rock of Gibraltar.
To join a small kitchen team and aid in the overseeing of standards as the number two to the head chef. The Head Chef has trained at the two Michelin starred le Gavroche along with a number of reputable hotels. He has brought a fresh, Mediterranean menu making use of all surrounding influences of Gibraltar’s food scene whilst using the Michelin level techniques that he’s picked up through his career.
The ideal candidate will have had a background in at least rosette level restaurants or hotels and have been in a similar role or chef de partie/Demi chef level (role will be relevant with the place of work).
They will be expected to take a leading role with two current chefs that have built a very good relationship and are hardworking and loyal. It is a tight nit team so coming together as a team and openly voicing ideas and opinion is the core to this particular kitchen.
The salary offer is £25-30,000 per anum depending on experience.
They are open for lunch service and at the moment closed in the evenings for private events/functions/weddings which is a large part of the business.
It is ideally a permanent role but can be a summer role for the right person.
There is no staff accommodation but help in finding a place to rent will be on hand if needed. Most staff live over the border in Spain and commute in as it is a lot cheaper to do so. The border is within walking distance of the suite.
