NATURAL RETREATS CAIRNGORM MOUNTAIN is the most popular snowsports destination in Scotland, located within the stunning Cairngorms National Park, and has been offering snowsports for over 50 years. The resort is a major tourist hub and it provides an uplift system to the top of Cairngorm. In winter, the Resort is a commercial ski operation.

Cairngorm Mountain resort covers 1,418 hectares and can attract over 120,000 skiing and snowboarding visitors in the busy winter period. The Resort offers the only funicular railway in Scotland. The Resort encompasses the UK's highest Restaurant which sits at 1,097m above sea level. The Ptarmigan building boasts impressive views of Britain's highest mountain plateau.

With the famous funicular railway, 30km of ski runs, 11 lifts, a fully maintained freestyle park and an on-site Ski School that caters for everyone. 

The role

With a passion for Skiing and Snowboarding, the Snow School Manager will be responsible for all the Snow School operations to give guests an amazing experience as well as being responsible for ensuring a cost-effective and profitable department. The role involves operating the school to maximise sales, develop new clients, organise classes and the instructors, ensuring the safety of all clients and overseeing the Equipment Hire operation that works closely in tandem with the Snow School. 

The role will also involve guest relations, managing rotas and managing the departmental budget. It will involve significant teamwork with all aspects of the Ski operation as well as other teams across the company. Running the day to day management of operations, control and administration of activities, taking a full hands-on management role in all areas of the Snow School. The Snow School Manager is responsible for creating a welcoming first and lasting impression and this position reports to the General Manager. It will mean working under pressure at peak periods and managing large numbers of guests and staff.

Experience

  • Minimum of three years proven experience in a similar role at a managerial level
  • Strong experience/awareness of offering exceptional service and the requirements of this.
  • Prior experience of working with children
  • Disclosure and barring service (DBS) certification

Skills

  • BASI Level 2 in Alpine as a minimum or working towards BASI level 3 certification (or equivalent  PISA or AASI level 2 minimum)
  • Ideally experience in snowboarding as well.
  • Passion for delivering an amazing experience and service
  • Proficient in the use of MS operating systems
  • Ability to effectively delegate
  • Team Player including the management, supervision and motivation of the team
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Commitment to customer care
  • Influencing skills
  • Problem solver
  • Commercial awareness
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Full driving licence

Duration

This is a temporary role for 4 – 5 months ideally from mid-November for the busy winter season.
